Subject: Help!!! Possible Clash Song

I can't for the life of me figure out what song this is, although I have heard it about 400 million times. The only part that I can really remember is the chorus, which is really repetitious, and it sounds like the singer is saying " rain, rain, rain, rain, raaaaiiinn". I think he says the word normally 8 times, and then the ninth and last one is really drawn out. I know somebody has to know this.

Complete guess here, and they sound nothing like the Clash. However, there is a song called "Rain" by the Beatles. It has a line exactly like that in the song. It's on the album, "Past Masters: Volume 2" if you want to listen to a sound sample. The lyrics you mentioned aren't until the very end of the song..

Two suggestions that sound more like the Clash

The Cult - Rain
The Alarm - Rain in the summertime

Thanks, but I don't think any of those are the song I'm looking for. I should try to give more clues.

First off, I'm not even sure the word is rain. It could be almost anything. But it sounds like "rain". And every time I hear the song it's always in a bar or something, so even though I actually know the song, I have no idea what any lyrics really are. I am almost positive it is a late 70's early 80's song, and it sounds quite a bit like Joe Strummer, which is why I figured it was the Clash. There is also another part of the song where the guy is going Aye aye aye aye aye - or whatever. But he's not screaming it or anything, it is actually quite a pleasant song.

I know that somebody has to know this.

HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH

"The Rain Song"

I don't think about us much anymore.
Frankly, the topic has become a bore.
And you don't come up much in my conversations.
And I don't think about you on vacation.
Oh, but when it rains.
When it rains. When it rains.
That's when I remember. (I remember)
That's when I remember. (I remember)
I remember you. (Oh, I remember you)
I remember you.
I don't think about you when I'm sleeping.
Oh, it doesn't even cross my dream-like mind. (Oh)
And I don't think I see your face through the curtain.
Hell, I don't even miss you half the time. (Half the time)
Oh, when it rains. When it rains. When it rains.
That's when I remember. (I remember)
Yeah, that's when I remember. (I remember)
I remember you. (Oh, I remember you)
I remember you.
Rain, rain, go away.
I'm doing fine as long as you stay locked up inside a cloud of grey.
Rain, rain. Rain, rain, rain. Rain, rain. Rain. Rain!
'Cause when it rains. Yeah, when it rains. When it rains.
That's when I remember. (I remember)
Yeah, that's when I remember. (I remember)
I remember you. (I remember)
I remember you. (I remember you)
That's when I remember. (I remember)
The only time I remember. (I remember)
I remember you. (Oh, I remember you) I remember you.

Chuckie,

Your words and I quote"

"it sounds like the singer is saying " rain, rain, rain, rain, raaaaiiinn". I think he says the word normally 8 times, and then the ninth and last one is really drawn out."

Then you throw this monkeywrench in...

"First off, I'm not even sure the word is rain"

I searched Google for a song that had Rain in the lyrcis 9 times. Now If the word isn't Rain, maybe it's Pain, or Train etc. I'll let you search from now on.

I didn't mean to be a dink, but really...

a) You didn't think that maybe I already tried to find the answer myself on Google?

b) Does Hootie sound anything like a late 70's early 80's band with a singer that sounds alot like Joe Strummer?

c) Where's the ayeayeayeayeayeaye part?

Like I said, thanks for trying, but it frustrates me when people just throw out suggestions and offer up guesses that simply prove that they didn't even bother to read the entire question.

I know EXACTLY what song you are looking for. I've been looking for it for years.

The song title is RAIN and it's early 80's. I don't remember the name of the singer (Yes it's a single singer and not a group) but I remember it's a french canadian singing in english.

I've been trying google, CDDB and a lot of website but I haven't been able to find it yet. Glad to see I'm not the only one searching.

I posted this information on the 80sxchange because the website is based in Canada and there's a Candian music expert at the site 'Whistledog' that may know this song.

Nope! That's not it.

I found this one on the web and it's called "It's just the rain". I even found a clip and it's definitely not what we're looking for.

Dan, I have that song and it doesn't match what he describes.
The chorus is:
I love you rain ,I love you rain
I love you rain
oh oh lost in the drivin' rain
standin in the drivin' rain

And there's no ayeayeayeayeayeaye part, it doesn't sound like the Clash to me and I wouldn't call it a "pleasant" song.

But who knows.

Believe me... the word is RAIN.

I'd like to get a clip of that song though so I could verify if it's the one.
