Hello! I wanna make a list for cd of the best soul-funk songs from the 70's and 80's. What do you guys think are a must to include?? I like confunkshun as an example but don't know all their music and don't know what songs are considered their very best and don't know if can trust gr hits - best of cds?? Thanks!!!.

AWESOME BIG TIMER! Thank you so much, what a great list and they all great names there - kind I know I'll like! If not to much to ask, what would you say some of the best albums are? I like Secrets from Confunkshun, myself. What about SOUL II SOUL, they considered good too?.

yup BIGTIMER YOU ARE!! but I will let you slide this time because I wasn't turned on to ebonnee webb until 1988 or 9 when this dj kept asking me to hear this song called something about you because he sounds like prince. Well I got addicted to that song as well as a few others from that lp. I didn't know you had the first one as well as the second. ON the thread from way back I asked about something about you and I don't think anyone knew what I was talking about. they knew about the second one though. I will check it out..

Yeah, I just added "Sing A Simple Song" by Sly to my library. Another good one is "Strawberry Letter 23" by the Brothers Johnson, that is a real nice funk ballad. Can't forget "Movin On" by Brass Construction, that one aint bad either..

Tanya, The more commercial success a band has, the less funk they produce. You can't start a FUNK list without James Brown(give it up turn it loose). Sly & the family stone (anything from there's a riot goin on). EWF (come on children, moment of truth). Bobby Byrd (I know you got soul, keep on doin'). The Isley Bros (get into something). Strafe (set it off). Kool & the gang (music is the message, soul vibrations). Tower of power (what is hip). The Ohio players (Fire, Ecstacy, anything from Pleasure). Just a few examples. The list can be endless. If these cuts aren't FUNKY, I'll eat my hat(I don't wear one, so I'll buy one). .
