After talking to a record store in Atlanta, the song Dreams may have been released only as a 12" DJ single. That explains why I saw the record listed that way on MusicStack.com. By the way, that record was listed for $27 and it has been sold. Here's the link that shows when it was listed.
I spoke to Lori at Record Rama (daughter of owner Paul) She has a 45 of Dreams but it is an "Archive Copy" That means that they always keep at least one recording of everything. Lori said the song "Dreams" is on the "I Really Want You" album. She has a copy of the LP but it's an archive copy too. The song length on the 45 is 3.46.
She'll make a copy to CD for $25.00 and it will take 2 weeks or if you want it fast, she'll make a copy to cassette for $12.00
I asked her if the LP song was longer than the 45, she said she didn't know. Ususally, the LP version is always longer than the radio version. I didn't ask what she would charge to make a copy of the entire LP but if the charge is the same, maybe consider getting a copy of album.
You're quite the lucky one to have received an mp3 copy of the song "Dreams" by Smoke City. I have been looking for this song as well for quite some time. Will your music source be willing to oblige me with a copy on CD, so that I can be as lucky as you. I'm happy to pay a price for this transaction. Many thanks for your help. Cheers!
I'm one of the lost ones also looking for the song "Dreams" by 80's Chicago R & B group Smoke City. I visited the website you provided in your feedback, recordrama.com - but could not find the artist Smoke City. May I ask for your help in contacting this site in hopes that I can have a copy made of this song on CD. Your feedback indicates this song runs a little over 3 minutes. If the album has a longer version, I would be more than happy to pay for the album version of "Dreams" copied on CD. My deepest gratitude in advance for any assistance you can offer.
The group Smoke City did have an album entitled "I Want You" (Epic Records) which I have. They were a Chicago group, with ties to the DJ, Doug Banks (at the time he worked at WBMX in Chicago). They thanked him on their album. Singers were Starr and Deveon Overton. It came out in 1985..
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! Finally someone besides myself knows about this song! I've been asking around everywhere I move (via military) and no one seems to know "Dreams" by Smoke City. If anyone has been able to find where I can purchase it (preferably on CD) I'd really appreciate the information..
