In 1989, 4 Non Blondes emerged in San Francisco, California. Linda Perry
(vocals, guitar), Roger Rocha (guitar), Christa Hillhouse (bass, vocals) and Dawn Richardson (drums) formed the band, citing Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and Heart
as their influences.
The song "What's Up" on the Bigger Faster Better More album catapulted 4 Non Blondes into the Top 10, and can be heard in the 1993 movie, "Wayne's
World." Financial constraints forced the band members to shoot the video for "What's Up" in the living room of a friend's
house.
4 Non Blondes released only the one album. Though it sold only 8,000 copies in the first year, the album sold five million in its second year.
The band broke up, when Linda Perry decided to pursue a solo career. Her debut album is called "In
Flight."
