Debby Boone is a popular Christian music singer, known for the 1970's hit "You Light Up My Life." In 1977, the song remained the number one hit on the charts for ten weeks, bringing Debby Boone a Grammy Award for Best
New Artist.


Boone hails from New Jersey, and was introduced to music early in life by her father, Pat Boone, the rebel rock singer of the 1950's. At age fourteen, Boone started touring with her father and three sisters.


"You Light Up My Life" brought Boone instant fame and fortune.

Debby was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, and moved with her family to the Los Angeles area when she was four. Thanks to her father's success, she was able to lead a sheltered life, and was content to do so. "I never felt a need to know everything that was going on," she said. "Really, what's the point of knowing about the smutty things in life?"
