David Soul earned a reputation as a folk singer before making a foray into acting. He combined both talents in making 30 appearances on the Merv Griffin Show as a masked vocalist in 1966. Soul made took more prominent roles in Here Comes the Bride, Streets of San Francisco and Encyclpaedia Britannica Presents. He is remembered most, though, as "Ken Hutchinson" in Starsky and Hutch.
In 1976, "Don't Give Up On Us," composed and produced by Tony Macauley, climbed to number one in the United States and in the U.K.
Soul remained a one-hit wonder in the United States. In Britain, however, Soul created several more hits, including "Silver Lady" which he co-wrote with Geoff Stephens |
