The story began to unfurl in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994 with a triumvirate. They
called themselves Van, Thrill Da Playa and Bryant, the king of bass. And, production contributions from 95 South and C.C. Lemonhead gave rise to the platinum single
"Tootsee Roll.".
"Tootsee Roll" registered as a #1 hit on the Billboard and Hot Rap charts in 1994, and earned top 10 status on both the Hot R&B and Hot 100
charts. It spent 38 weeks on each. The song brought 69 Boyz enduring recognition for their bass sound.
The 69 Boyz have also contributed tracks to promotion picture soundtracks, including the gold-certified Bad Boys album, with "Five-0,
Five-0" and the platinum certified soundtrack to Sunset Park, with "Hoop N Yo Face."
Today, the 69 Boyz seek to preserve their reputation as 1990-era bass pioneers. They do not achieve this by resting on the laurels of yesterday.
Rather, the group's members are interested in taking their music to the next level.
