Bertie Higgins' 1982 debut Just Another Day In Paradise marked his return to music. After all, he had not undertaken a musical endeavor since 1968, when he retired to his home town of Tarpon Springs, Florida after his group, the Roemans, disbanded.
Higgins played with the Roemans, who recorded a series of singles for
ABC-Paramount, between 1964 and 1968. Following the break-up of the
Roemans, however, Higgins returned to Tarpon Springs. He worked on a
collection of songs over the course of the 1970's, forming the basis of Just
Another Day In Paradise - a record that became a hit, as the single "Key
Largo" soared into the Top 10.
Bertie Higgins will be remembered for his Top 10 single "Key Largo," a
soft rock tune about dwelling in a Humphrey Bogart film. In 1994, he did
release Then and Now, which received little attention.
He is alive and well with his Band of Pirates. And has been doing quite well over the years, especially the Pacific Rim, Austrailia and small venues. |
